Ironman Triathlon 2017

I got the opportunity to work at several Ironman Triathlon events in 2017. Hired by BCC Live out of Boulder, I went to Couer d’Alene, Wisconsin, Chattanooga, Maryland, Louisville, and Florida. Working run and gun style I shot on some nice Sony gear. Race days start with a call time at 4:00am and we usually finish striking around 2:00am. BCC runs power and audio for the whole event as well as producing race day video. It’s up to our 6 man crew to strike all of BCC’s gear. It’s hard work but very fun to be out there with the Ironman athletes. The stories I’ve heard are unbelievably inspiring. For the bike, I am the solo shooter out on the course operating out of rental car. I work stay in close communication with the driver to make sure we stay safely clear of bikers while managing to get as many shots as I can. Above are highlight reels of everything I shot. Below are a few photos and all the race day videos we produced. For all of the race day videos Marcus from BCC would edit throughout the day to have them ready for a showing at breakfast the morning following.
Thanks BCC for bringing me on the crew.

I shot this interview with Erich that was one of the most amazing things to witness a blind man finish the 140.6 mile race, setting a visually impaired Ironman record.
